Meeting Information

8th GRADE MEETINGS AT LUNCH
All meetings will be held in the
Center For Inspiration

First Meeting for 8th-grade team:  August 20th, 2015

How it Works

Throughout the school year, students will have opportunities to earn points by:

Attending meetings (1 pt. ea.)
  •     Held during lunch and/or after school

Writing practice test questions about each book (1. pt. ea.)
  • Maximum of 5 pts. earned per book but students may write as many questions as they like (the better-prepared we are, the better we’ll do at the competition!)
  • 2 BONUS POINTS will be given for questions turned in during the month assigned books are read.  For example, if Tiger's Curse is assigned for December and a student turns in at least 5 questions for Tiger's Curse in December, that student will earn 7 points.  But, if a student turns in 5 questions for Tiger's Curse in January, then only 5 points will be earned.
  • All questions MUST be turned in no later than a month BEFORE the competition (dates TBD)

Taking Accelerated Reader tests on each book (1 – 10 pts. ea.)
  • Tests must be taken in the library during study halls or meetings.

Participating in simulated competitions (???? pts.)
  • Once we get closer to the competition date in the spring, we will hold “mock” competitions using clickers/buzzers where members will be able to earn points based on correct answers.
THE TOP FIVE POINT EARNERS WILL BE SELECTED TO REPRESENT THE SCHOOL IN THE COMPETITION.
(One to three alternates will also be invited to attend.)

COMPETITION DATES TBD
