Coding Club

What is Google CS-First Storytelling?
Mission
To introduce, support and enhance Computer Science education through various methods of coding.
Goal
To provide a safe and accepting learning environment for students to experiment with and learn new technologies including (but not limited to): digital storytelling, online game development and robotics.
Plan
  • Meetings #1-10 (approx.): Coders will start by creating digital stories using Google CS First and eventually color-coding Ozobots.
  • Meetings #11-25 (approx.): Coders will continue on to another Google CS First unit and/or explore block-coding websites like Ozoblockly, Scratch, and Code Studio.
  • Meetings #26-40 (approx):  Coders will have the option to experiment with text coding items such as Arduino Boards, Sphero robots and Ozobots. 
Members
  • Members filled out an application requiring two teacher recommendations.
  • Applications were due to Mrs. Trimble by November 22nd.
  • Members will try to meet once or twice per week during seminar/lunch period in the makerspace.
NOTE:  Members are invited to represent the Coding Club by presenting at Walnut Springs' Family Night on Thursday, January 19th, 2017 (6:00-8:00pm) and at the Nationwide Children's Starry Night Event on Sunday, April 23rd, 2017 (2:00-6:00pm).
WSMS Students color-code Ozobot travel destinations.
WSMS students use Ozobots to find absolute value using a Cartesian Plane.
